2. Travelogue [College - York Dungeon]
here's my second travelogue. I hope you'll like it!
Day five, Thursday, January 30th:
Today we've had reflexology. Reflexology is an alternative medicine, by putting pressure to the feet, hands or ears. If someone puts pressure on a ’pressure point’ they can feel it in other areas of the body. If you massage these pressure points long enough the pain in the shoulder, back or whatever, might go away. This is very interesting! After this we’ve had anti-aging. But our teacher had also a treatment, so we were not able to do anything.
After school we went shopping with the Dutch girls in York, it was very cool! I really liked to go to the shops, because we’ve got a very nice group. And ofcourse, the shops were nice as well.
We also took a look at Fenwicks. We were curious because in our last week we will work over there. Fenwicks is very big, with lots of make-up and other beauty stuff. After this visit we wanted to go back to our host families. We wanted to take the bus, so we entered it but when the bus drove away we discovered that we were on the wrong bus. We went to the bus driver to tell him and he was like:
”Why didn't you girls ask me where you had to go?! Well, you paid for this bus stop, so step off here.”
And there we stood, we were a little bit flabbergasted, but we thought: Ok, let’s walk to our host-families. It was quit a long walk, but we all arrived safely!
Day six, Friday, January 31th:
School started quit late today and we only had one class and that was waxing! After this lesson we went back to our host families. The weather was bad, it was windy outside and the rain came pouring down. In The Netherlands they would have given a weather alert. In the evening Daphne and I went to Margots place, there we made plans for the weekend!
Day seven, Saturday, February 1st
This saturday we went to The York Dungeon, this was very scary! The York Dungeon is a 70-minute journey where you go through more than 2000 years of York’s most scary and terrible history. It was very dark inside there and every time we entered a room, there was somebody to tell a story about a part of the history. But sometimes nobody stood there, then they could be everywhere. Around the corner.. or at your back. Yes, if you ask me, it was very scary. But I’m glad that I went there!
After this scary experience we got so hungry, so we went to an Italian restaurant. The food tasted great! When we had eaten enough, we went into some pubs. That was quit cool. What i noticed is that the people over here wear strange clothes compared to the Netherlands. Only a little dress and some big hair is the trend over here.
Day eight, Sunday, February 2nd
This sunday was a lazy day. I went to margot, we walked together to Tesco’s which is a bit of a walk. I think it’s from where I live 45 minutes, but the weather was nice so it didn’t matter.
In the evening I watched ’Dancing On Ice’ with my host family and Hyacinth Bucket as well. I already knew that last program because my parents always watch it.
Thanks for reading and greetings from York!

I hope you have met or will meet busdrivers with more consideration towards students from abroad. Reading your blog gives me the idea you are having a good time. Nice to read that scary experiences can lead to a hungry feeling and after this you feel better. Compliments for the clear description.

Geniet nog van jullie laatste weekje Engeland. Ben benieuwd hoe Fenwick bevalt.
